The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 series (40mm, 44mm, Classic models) uses a “dynamic lug” or quick-release system for attaching bands, replacing the traditional watch pins. This new system is similar to what is found on the Apple Watch and Pixel Watch. All 40mm, 44mm, and Classic models use the same type of connector, but the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) uses the same connecter from the old Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra.
What’s No Longer Compatible?
Older Galaxy Watch bands (including those from Galaxy Watch 7 and earlier) won’t fit the Galaxy Watch 8 or Watch 8 Classic. Standard third-party 20mm bands are also incompatible unless you use an adapter—which may not look great or fit perfectly.
